First Time /Shipped Eggs/NR 360

Chicks are 6 weeks old today , time sure passes quickly . I just checked on them and got a few pictures . One so far I am absolutely sure is a cockerel , one of the EE's , the only one of the EE's with triple rows on the comb , and the comb is getting red , here is a pic of him( beautiful bird) . Sorry for the blurry pics but I had the 3 boys with me and it was about impossible to get good pics

Here's one of another EE with a single row comb that we think is a pullet

Here are a few of the Buff Orpingtons , I don't see any pointy saddle feathers or any real redness in the combs

All the other EE's have single row combs like the one in the second picture same coloring . Anybody see anything cockerel looking outside of the first picture ?

Looks like your daughter might get lucky with only one male! None of the orps look particularly male from what I can see, but I can’t see all of their combs. I find feather sexing and body/tail shape to be very unreliable with Orpingtons, because they are so round and fluffy. Mine are 11 weeks old and none of the male orps have any kind of pointy feathers yet, and their tails look exactly the same as the girls’ - short and barely there. By comparison, the Barnevelder boys of the same age have big, pronounced curved tails with a bright green sheen on them already, and their body shape is different from the girls’. The orp boys did have huge combs and wattles early on though, certainly by 6 weeks, so if yours don’t, then they’re probably girls.

Thanks for the comments. :) I am a bit surprised myself from what I saw today . If the 3 row comb is the tell on the EE's along with the comb getting red earlier than pullets then there's only 1 EE cockerel . The Orps if you click on the first pic with the EE cockerel there is an Orp right next to him with a pretty good pic of the comb , all 3 are pretty much like this one , no wattle development , no redness to comb . Can we be this lucky ?

I have just read through this whole thread - awesome journey. I fetched 12 eggs in Feb this year from a gentlemen who had lots of chickens and I had a broody Orpington cross. 1 egg broke on the day, two were dead two weeks in, and one died during hatch. I hatched 8 out of 11 eggs you could say. Mommy raised them and are now 16 weeks old. I had 4 hens and 4 roosters. Gave 3 roosters away. I’d say you only have one rooster. These are my babies. Photos attached.

Thanks for the comments on the thread and the probable Roo .
You really should start your own thread to showcase your birds and tell about your hatch experience .
