First time with a broody- hatch day is here-not sure what to do?!!??

Haha, well that explains it! I was wondering if those little ones are ever going to hatch! Well, I'm glad to hear every things on track.
Like Bobbi-j said, she's probably doing her poops somewhere you can't see them. As long as she's eating and drinking she'll be fine. My broodies also eat very little and sometimes they go for 3 days without leaving the nest.
BTW Ida's gorgeous!

Yeah, I am a class A doofus for not realizing that I switched my weekend dates up like that. And I looked at the calendar four or five times over the last 5 days before it hit me. Ugh.
Thank you! I think Ida is the prettiest hen in my little flock. I wanna see those babies so bad!

Me too! What breed's Daddy?
Like the new avatar.

I'm pretty sure it's Charlie the cochin...

Maybe PeeWee, but he's an old man and doesn't really hang with the girls anymore.

I have a bantam barnyard mutt that thinks he's a real ladies man too. Most of the time the girls just run him off, but I'm not sure he'd be very successful anyway. He's black with a single comb.

'Twill be interesting!

My av is RC (Road Chicken). He was a rock cross on his way to slaughter when he literally fell off the back of the truck as I passed by. So I kind of brought him home with me....probably the sweetest rooster I've ever known.

Oh it's SOOO hard not to look!!! But I guess Ida is taking care of that for me since she isn't too keen on my hand coming near her. As of about 30 minutes ago I could definetly hear some consistant chipping and pecking sounds! I think when I hear some actual peeps I'll feel better.

I am so excited! I don't know how people do this with an incubator. I would be watching it constantly! lol It's taking a lot for me to not just go out and sit with Ida! :)
We are looking every 10 minutes or standing on top of it and going crazy!!!!!!!

OOH YEAH! I walk by my bators constantly and look it over and want to do "something"? One has a turner so all I can do is check the temp, like 100 times a day!
And it's only day 5!!!!!!!!!!! I told myself I will not candle till day 7, but it is so hard not to "peek".

Beauty and the beast comes to mind...

I'm waiting on eggs to hatch from a broody too. It's my first time hatching anything and my first time with a broody too. So needless to say I am definately nervous and excited about this hatch. Our EE hen Hazel is sitting on 10 eggs which should be due to hatch Friday. The eggs she is sitting on are from our own flock. We sold all of our adult roosters and 9 days after getting rid of the last rooster Hazel decided to go broody. Since there was the possibility of our own eggs being fertile we decided to let her sit on some of those rather than buying eggs and risking her not being a proper broody. The moms of the eggs are EEs and RIRs, and the dad is likely my EE roo. We had a BR roo too but he was sold a week and a half or so before the EE roo and was the submissive roo.
I'm getting anxious to see if anything hatches. I tried to candle at day 8 and day 16 and I think I saw what I was supposed to. I don't have a candler and I've never done it before so honestly I was just going off pictures I had seen online. If nothing hatches I have a source for cheap chicks and I could get some breeds I want to add to my flock.
I hope something hatches from these eggs though

. Likely we will end up selling chicks that hatch though.
