I finally convinced my husband to let me get broilers :D I've had laying hens before we got married but it took over four years for him to let me raise and process chickens. I just ordered ten to start with. He was amazed at the color and taste of fresh eggs, wait till he tastes the chicken! Now I'm working on trying for a Jersey cow for milk and to cross with a beef bull.

Good for you.
Baby steps.
It's the same with my wife. Sometimes takes decades.
If she hears it from me it can't be true but if she reads the same thing in a book - it's gospel.

Why did I get married?

I think we married the same woman, ChickenCanoe!!

Hah, you sound like me! I started with a couple laying hens and then chicken math hit me like a freight truck.

Now I have 50+ laying hens, almost 40 meat birds with plans for a second batch, and I've already been promised that I can get my long awaited milk cow when we get our farm ;)

Best of luck to you!

So, I'm on the second week and already desided I should have bought at least twice as many. I'm feeding FF and need to buy a kitchen scale. It looks like we will be moving to town in two months so this will be my only batch till we find another farm to rent. Really should've bought more.
