I just started a mealworm farm using the three drawer system. I have noticed that most of the worms stay in the corners of the drawers. Is this normal for them? I am using wheat brand about an inch deep and carrots for moisture and have paper towel rolls for hiding places. Any help would be grate. Thank you DJ

No advice to offer, but I would like to know more about this three drawer system you are using.

The three drawer system is top drawer for the beetles with bottom cut out and replaced with screen. This lets the hatching worms drop to the second drawer. I will leave them in this drawer until they reach one inch. When they reach one inch I will move them to the third drawer. I use the third drawer to feed from and let some of the mealworm pupate for replacement beetles. I have include a picture for reference If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

Hi, I have 6000 mealies and yes it is normal for them to do that. Mealies hate the light and love to burrow. They fight to get to the bottom. Throw in some paper towel rolls and egg cartons, they love to hide in them. (sorry, just realized you do have cartons etc)

What type of screen is in the top drawer? Juse normal window screen? How did you adhere it to the plastic? Do you use different substrate for your levels? I just emptied a batch of petsmart worms into a Rubbermaid container for now but would like to make them a renewable food source
