First Timer: In Need of Showing/Breeding Tips

I read through the standard and it says nothing about shafting.....

this is a real problem when people start judging the marans like other breed .
Shafting does not exist in the marans breed my dear .
show your chooks don t listen to people s .

you have a nice and faultless BCM pullet and I ll still give her 98 point in any show and any country .
if some one trying to prove me wrong go for it and note that pullet for me as she is if she interred the show ring at this age .as a young pullet category ?

it is not a crime to see some gorgeous chooks belonging to some one else . it is OK .
people have a right to have a nice chooks ,not because they don t know the SOP , or they don t know the chooks terminology ,or not a famous breeders. mean they should not have great chooks .

I agree, the judge and who you show against is important. The tail can be important if the other birds shown are more complete, and have a proper tail. I am guessing the poster is a junior, but there are some nice Black Copper Marans being shown in the open division here. I think it is a disservice to tell anyone a bird is faultless. I think it is better to discuss pros and cons, and tell one how to breed to improve. You told the poster his bird would score 98 points out of 100. That will not be the score when he shows the bird. According to you, this bird would be unbeatable. That is getting the poster's hopes up. Once the bird matures, it can be shown, and can be compared to other birds. No offense to the poster, it looks average for the birds in the US.

Yes this pullet if interred the show ring will be up there with a top
only BCM pullet with a same type and vigor plus a complete coppery hackle will beat her .

who are you to question me any way ?
the person posted a photo of BCM pullet and wanted an opinion . So I gave mine with a detail point by point .
why you don t just give your opinion and be satisfy , you don t have to shut some body start ,so you can shine ,
there is room for every one to bright up .

be cool .we are here to learn from each other and try to breed a great chooks .

we are not here to prove each other wrong and pick on each other .

thank you all . last time I ll come to this thread .
Who want my opinion ,knows where to find me .I don t like worst my energy .

Are you a licensed judge in any country? Shafting can exist in any breed. This male exhibits shafting. Or is that cockerels not a Marans?

If the pullet is faultless, why would you only score her a 98/100? You would still score her the same at a show in the UK?

Sure, anyone can have a nice bird, but people should be honest. People should also have a clue what they are talking about before they start giving advice. The poster does have nice birds, but wants direction and critique. Maybe your goal is to see Marans in the US go downhill.

If the pullet were faultless as you told the poster, how could it be beaten? So a cock, cockerel, or hen could not beat her? Here in the US, we typically do not show birds this young.

I question anyone who spreads misinformation. I feel anyone should do the same. These days, it is tough to find accurate information, as people tend to just make things up. If those people are not questioned, people will be misled, and the truth will be lost. So you think people should be allowed to mislead people and not be challenged?

People can't learn if they aren't told the truth, and you can't breed good birds if you are not told the truth.

I feel if someone is wrong, it should be pointed out.

Are you from Tazmania?

Never is a bird Faultless. Never has a bird actually met SOP. It's what we strive for, but can never reach.
