It's day 5 for me tommorow.Actually Day 5 starts at 9:00 p.m. tonight,At day 5 I should see something right?

I was told to wait until day 7..but reading others here, have candled eariler. But Im no expert. Gonna have my daughter candle with me tomorrow so I dont mess anything up or drop one/two lol

As she's on her 2nd batch of hatching eggs this summer and has done great.

UPDATE TIME LOL:

Okay was an hour short of 7 days at 11PM tuesday instead of wednesday. Here is what I have, IF I candle'd them right???

Out of 24 Isa eggs 18 have veins, was so coolies seeing them I saw the first vein and went to the next so not to keep the bator open so long...LOL

4 Std blue cochins eggs , 3 have veins

14 guinea eggs grrrrrrrrrrrrrr 1 has veins. IM stumped here as they are such hardy eggs to incubate almost dummy proof. Unless she sold me old eggs? I dont know but will email her in the morning to see , whats what.

NOW the better news, I sat on the floor as someone suggested with a pillow in my lap and the bator at my side, I dropped 3 and thank gosh the pillow was there as they would have been on an EGG McMuffin by morn. LOL

Oh shoot I was going to candle today

Okay, this waiting for new babies is driveing me nuts! I tell ya nuts!

My Pekin has been on the nest since August 2nd and still no sign of any babies.

She laid an egg on the 2nd and I noticed during the day that she was staying on that one little egg. So I stopped collecting them. She laid 12 eggs and stopped laying. She stayed on those eggs the whole time while she filled her nest.

Shouldn't I have some babies by now? Or are you suppose to count from the day she stopped laying them?

Since she stayed on the nest from day one that was the day I started counting down from. Was I wrong?

I'm sure they are fertilized because her man grabs her everytime they get in the pool.

Gahhhh. The sizzle eggs still weren't fertile... The dark - dunno eggs appear to be going, there are four of those.

So I set more sizzle eggs I collected yesterday.

The tiny mystery pullet egg is only day four so we'll see later.

The first batch of six mystery eggs are rolling right along and due next week.

Update on mine

Out 6 silkie eggs received......
1 detached and broken air cell......binned
1 no development on day 6......binned
2 good development and moving embryo seen on day 8 (today)
2 not sure about.....have veins but dark patches that i am suspicious about......watch these two carefully!!

Out of 6 Orpington eggs received....
2 broken in transit
2 have veins on day 5 (today)
2 have no development today.....will recheck in a few days

So....a mixed bag really!

Will be really happy if I get 4 Silkies and 3-4 Orpingtons but I am thinking in reality that I might get 2 Silkies and 2 Orpingtons.......out of 12 eggs......expensive little bug*ers!




I candle WAY too often! - but 9/9 hatched last time with numerous candlings! sure i will learn the hard way though soon:/

Well CONGRATS to all. At least we each have something that is gonna hatch.


Gloria: I would think that if she has been setting on those eggs that is would be the same as if they were in the bator. Try to candle one or a few, this evening at dark. Or do what my daughter did, go into a closet and candle. You should have seen her and I crammed into a little closet giggle'n each time she brought in an egg and it had veins LOL
