Welcome Aboard BoJo! Sure we have room. Have you candled yet? What breed are the eggs from Dipsy?

I just got a PM from Okiehen my Welsummer and Andalusians Eggs were shipped yesterday so I should get them tomorrow. I'll borrow one of daughters bators today and set eggs on thursday. Maybe I'll have more Blue Cochin eggs by then? My girls are molting and Im only getting an egg every few days now.

I can almost picture you and your daughter hiding in the closet with your eggs! LOL So funny!

Nope, I haven't candeled any of them because I didn't want to bother her. Maybe I should do that tonight. I haven't done it before though. I just have to look for any veining, right?

I guess my Buff Orp has again decided to go broody. She was up in the main nest all day yesterday and now again today, I've checked twice now today and she is still in there. Maybe this time she will stay!

HI, I live in New York city (you read it right!!!) and last monday we put 6 eggs in a incubator!
I got the eggs from a farm upstate NY, where we have a country house.
I am doing this with my son who is 6, and we are both very excited!!!
The hatching date is to be sep 21. If all goes well, we will keep the chicks for a few weeks and they will move later on to a farm.
Found this website and I have to say that I am now very hooked in chickens. Wish I could find a way to keep them in our country home...

My 5 MF are what is left of 10 originally found under the lawn mower!

Candling is fun, but because I am not always 100% sure, I always leave the ones I think are bad in there anyway...just incase!

My Husband laughs and asd asks why I even bother candeling!! lol

FluffyColor: Moving the bator doesnt mean you wont have viable eggs. Are you gonna candle tonight?

Bojo: I left the ones in my bator to last night that had no veins, but Im gonna wait for day 10 to recheck them just in case I was wrong. A couple of the shells were so dark I couldnt see anything at all in them. So its a waiting game again.

NYCmadness Welcome Aboard: My 2 grandkids are so excited when they had a hatch a couple weeks ago. Autumn is 4 1/2 and Alex is 3 1/2 I called over there and they're running around the house singing "we are hatching, we are hatching" It was so cute. I just melted. Autumn raised her own chicken she named Holly Pokie and carried that chick in an easter backets forever and still does carry her. She laid her first egg last week and was so excited to put it in the incubator "after" she had to write on the egg (just scribbles) just like her mom does LOL Alex was so upset that his hen didnt lay any eggs so he too, had to write something on "ANY" egg that was going into the bator ...Life is GOOD!

This will be a wonderful experience for your son. And something I doubt he'll ever forget in life. I remember the first eggs we hatched in a 10 gallon aquarium when I was about 7-8 yrs old. A memory Ive always cherished. Now look, Im addicted hehehe

Gloria: at this stage, you should be able to see them moving around in the egg. Try to candle them, shouldnt bother her. And let us know what you see. "sending hatching vibes your way"

Oh my gosh! I'm so excited it's not even funny! Still waiting patiently! Quackers just got up to take her daily swim in the pool and I checked her eggs. Three of them look like their black inside. Yeah! I'm hopeing that's a good thing anyway.

Can you see any movement in the eggs? Get out a flash light tonight and see if you can see movement. LOL Im glad you did see something. I love ducks, but I wouldnt be able to raise them cuz one of my favorte meats are duck legs/thighs with raspberry melba sause drizzled on top and broasted. YUMMY and if I raised them I dont think I could ever eat duck again.
