First Timer Looking For Hatch Buddy!

ME TOO! ME TOO!

I set my very first batch last night (fri) at 8:30 pm, so can I be included in your club? If the set day is considered day 1, then my hatch date should be 9/17.

I set 7 EE's, 3 Frizzles, 6 Serama's, 7 Banty Cochins, and 5 mutt's which are sex-link x barred rock, Black Jersey Giant x barred rock, and buff orp x barred rock.

My temps on my brand-spanking-new LG still-air are holding at a steady 100.2 and my humidity is 55%.

I read I'm not supposed to turn the eggs for the first 24 hrs, is that correct?

This is me ----->

Welcome Aboard Liltexas!!

Great your hatch day is just around the corner! 1 week left. I bet you are have a ball candle'n them and seeing them move around in the shells.

Ive set my bator in my milk house as it stays about the temp in there all the time and the humidity is pretty high with it being a cinder block building with cedar roof. I think its my best choice for hatching. Plus non of my dogs can knock it over and the grandkids cant unplug it nor open the top to have a "peek" Candle'n for me, is only a few days away.

Count me as your hatch buddy too! I'm setting my very first hatch in my new 'bator today!

If I've calculated right, they're due 9/19.

I have 8 white, 8 black Javas (LF chickens) and 2 Wellie/Delaware crosses. I can't wait to see how they turn out!!

I did, 2 times as Im hand turning my eggs 3-4 times a day. Remember the hens get off the eggs at least once a day to eat/drink and they do a pretty good job hatching.

My bator only seems to drop down to around 80 degrees by the time I turn all the eggs and put the top back on..and withing a few mins it back up to 99.5

Welcome Aboard Okiehen, Carriehelene and LuvinMyPeeps! I wish I had a hen to go broody on me. I wouldnt worry about the eggs so much LOL This is nerve racking. And to think I have another 3 dozen going into another bator the middle of this week.

I just hatched some b/b/s Ameraucana eggs, and they are some of the CUTEST chicks you'll ever see.

I don't have anything in the 'bator, but this is a fabulous thread you started, Ooopsy, so I can't resist following along. I don't think I've seen this kind of camaraderie on a hatching thread before!

. I followed the instructions that the admin's have stickied about hatching, which said not to turn the first 24 hrs, just left the incubator alone during that period. I'm not sure which way is correct, or if it even matters. However, those same instructions also say to keep the humidity around 60% the first 18 days, which most here say is too high.

Talk about nerves, we added a fan to the bator last night

I told dbf "you only have as long as it takes me to turn the eggs, can you get it done that fast?" He did pretty good, took around a minute longer, then I had to do some temp adjusting to compensate for the fan. It went well, no drastic temp spikes or drops, whew. So we've made it to day 3, yay!

Good Morning Everyone!

I think if Ive counted right, we have 15 on board for hatching from 1 wk to 20 days and both chickens and duck. Boy this is gonna be fun, I cannot wait to see all the pictures come in and I might just set up a webcam to host on my server once mine start hatching. This is better than waking up christmas morning to see what santa left.
