We have four eggs under a brood hen (we didn't want too many on our first try). Two eggs were 21 days Friday, the other two are a day later. One chick hatched Friday, one Saturday. No external pips in the other two eggs that I can see. I haven't candled this time (last time we tried this I candled and the hen quit after two weeks so this time I didn't want to move the eggs). If the eggs are no good will the hen eventually get up with her two chicks and move on or will she keep sitting? Should I remove the last two eggs after a certain amount of time or just wait for her to quit on them?

Thanks.

We came home this afternoon and the hen had moved her chicks to a corner of the coop and left the remaining eggs. They were cold and when I candled them I couldn't see anything promising so we opened them. Both were just yolk so I'm assuming unfertilized or stopped early on anyway. No blood at all so probably unfertilized. They eggs were from two different hens so maybe the rooster is only fertilizing one of them? Oh well, two healthy chicks is just fine with me for our first try.

Congrats on your two new chicks and happy fuzzy butt time! Glad you got that sorted out!
