First timer

My ebay eggs came in today with 4 extras and none broken. One of my Americana hens laid an egg this morning so I am going to put them all in tonight. I am off work today and just about have my hatcher complete. If things go well, I will have more chicks than I know what to do with before long.

I had another Americana hen lay an egg so I put a total of 30 eggs in the bator. I had put 11 in last weekend which seem to be doing fine. Got my hatcher finished except for the temperature controller. Ordered another off of ebay from China again and hope it makes it here in the next few days. I am wishing I had gone another route on the turner for the incubator. I think that I could have gotten a timer and actuator off of ebay for less than I paid for the LG turner. Then I could have made one that would hold close to 200 eggs. Dont need to hatch 200 eggs and couldn't get them unless I bought them, but for some reason I wish that I could.

Well crap, it is sleeting here and I am hoping and praying the power doesn't go off. May try to run it off a couple batteries from my boat if I have to.

Eggs seem to be doing just fine. Candled a few today and can see movement. According to my 2 digital thermometers my controller was reading on the high side making my bator run too cool. My controller has a parameter that allows me to make an offset to the reading and I went the wrong way with the adjustment just before going to work over the weekend. It was running about 97 for about 24 hrs before I noticed what I had done. I was on day 7 of 12hr night shifts and didnt realize the temp had went the wrong direction until I got out of bed the next day. I figured they were dead but maybe they will hatch.

Well I got my hatcher up and running and have 11 eggs that will be moved into it tomorrow and go into lock down. I found a local source for welsummer eggs, so I will be picking up some this weekend. Really anxious to see what happens. They are due on Sunday.

I just candled an egg and can see a foot kicking around.

Moved my 11 to the hatcher and put 11 more in the bator. Will have a couple of days after the hatch to get cleaned up and then will be putting 29 more into lock down.

Well its day 20 on my first 11 eggs. Cant wait till tomorrow.
