My cat has apparently moved the bator while I ran to the feed store. I dont know if hes trying to protect it or eat it but how sad and pathetic does my cat look....

Is this normal??

Ok thanks! I was worried. I did look it up and its the belly button with umbilical cord still attached. Shoukd fall off within a few days. We think this is a hen. She has two rows of feathers on her wings. I was told two rows female, one row male. Lets hope its right. I need a girl for eggs otherwise my husband is making soup. :(

the hanging umbilical cord is/can be normal, the little bit of blood on the navel is where I would keep it clean with antibiotic ointment and it should dry up and fall off :) make sure the other chicks can't peck it!

edit: the rows of feathers thing seems to work well for me, but you can only see it on day 1 past that... write it down lol
