First treat ????

First how old are they? I normally give my new chicks some greens or meal worms but not until after the first week or so. I just want them to be we’ll accustomed to their environment & feeds have routines so I can eliminate any unnecessary factors that could lead to pasty butts or any bad stuffs, I have never lost a single chick for 5 yrs.

Thanks for some ideas everyone. I guess we will try them all over the next few days.

Our chicklets are 6 wk old tomorrow. They have access to baby-chick grit in a bowl all the time, they just help themselves. I have been giving them freeze-dried meal worms for about a week now, which they love, some of them now having become hand-tame as a result and one has been asking me to pick her up for the last two days - this has been her idea, not mine! These are all the EEs, btw; the 3 BLs still keep their distance. In the last two days they've also had cut up ripe banana with raw oats (people oatmeal) and also chopped leaf lettuce and chopped tomato. They are still at the food-exploring stage, willing to try new things because they know I bring goodies, but not yet at the "hooray, pizza and ice cream!" stage. I sprinkle everything liberally with crumbled mealworms so they'll try it, which makes them willing. Maybe I should try that with my fussy-eater grandson, lol! :yesss: Next week I plan to make extra spaghetti so I can film what I expect to be a chicken rodeo! We use the veggie spaghetti, not white pasta.
