Hi angelobutter. I've been following this thread with interest as I am torn between buying the Rcom pro 10 or an Rcom 20. Is there any update on your first hatch using the new Rcom 10? It would be great to hear how you're finding it.

Also, could you confirm whether there is a setting on the Rcom 10 for geese?

I was glad to find this thread. I have an RCom Max 20. Some of my chicken eggs are so big, I can't get 20 eggs in there. So, I'm thinking of getting an additional incubator. I love the ease of the RCom, so I was wondering about the Pro 10. Does it hod temp & humidity as well as the larger units?

Here's mine. I had 19 eggs at the start, but removed a few that did not develop.

to capayvalleychick: so far so good, It gets back to proper temp and humidity quick like the other Rcoms do. I was worried it would take longer since when you open it, it is essentially loosing all the heat and humidity it had but it gets right back to where it should be in just a few minutes.
I actually have the 50, and the 20 (and obviously the 10) they are so addicting lol. I never use my brinseas anymore and my styrofoam incubators I just gave away. Rcoms spoiled me they are so easy.

Ok update for today: 4 chicks hatched and one left that is pipped. (I recandled and had to toss one egg that was a late quitter) so one chick to go. All the chicks have had perfect zips, no sticky chicks, no shrinkwrapped chicks. so I think that the temp and humidity are very stable and reliable on this incubator. I also noticed something I missed before. check out my second photo- look how easy this is going to be to clean! just the turning tray and the base and it will be 100% clean again. even though the Rcom 20 and 50 are easier to clean than other incubators, somehow they managed to make the 10 even easier still! I am pretty excited about that- cleanup is my least favorite part of hatching.

Congrats on your hatch! Thanks so much for making this thread. You should write a review that links to this, for other people who are considering the RCom 10.

Do you have the incubator in a climate controlled room? I'm wondering how affected it can be by room temperature? The only problem that I had with my 20 is that it overheats if the room temperature gets above 90.

It is just in my "reptile room" as I call it. but it is more of a "miscellaneous pet room". it isn't climate controlled, I have heated snake racks on one side, incubators in the middle, and my birds, chicks and rats on the other side. it has one wall that is all windows so I am sure it doesn't stay a stable temperature in there, I haven't noticed any fluctuations, but I was thinking of getting one of those temperature/humidity gauges that records the highest and lowest reading each day so I can get a better idea of any change as the day goes on. that being said I am in NH so I don't think my house ever gets over 90 haha, we are still dropping to freezing temps at night

Thanks for making this thread.. I just ordered one.. I've been saving for a 50, but got impatient and figured I'd order this to help me get through. I currently have two Brinsea Mini's so, with this new Rcom.. I can actually set two dozen eggs a hatch since I am starting to get orders for chicks. This will have to get me through until I can buy the 50. I am getting excited as I am starting to get pullets laying, and finally can hatch some of my own, since I"ve dealt with shipped eggs so far, buying from different breeders, and building diversity in my flock. There aren't many breeders in my area of my breed of interest, and have had to ship eggs.

My question to you is..... do you remove the turning tray like the brinsea models upon lockdown? Is it a towel I see that you put in for the chicks to hatch on? Thank for any help or suggestions you have for me. I appeciate it! Also.. one more question.. how is the noise level? Of course I need it to be a bit more quiet than the Brinsea mini's, because I don't want DH to realize I am hatching.......YET AGAIN!

i don't take out the turning trays, it stops turning automatically and it kind of keeps the eggs in place. i think it might just be humidity you are seeing instead of a towel. it it totally quiet. except for the sound it plays while it is turning the eggs but i think you can turn that off (if you don't loose the manual which i managed to do lol) and the humidity pump kind of makes a little whirring sound.

Most will leave them in while any others are hatching and remove when dry n fluffy to the waiting brooder. They use their yolk for up to three days, but I wouldn't push it past 48. JMO.
