Yes, freshwater drum and kin to red drum. Difficult to make a tasty meal of freshwater drum as they quickly take the undesirable fish / river taste. They have some really big ear bones some people make into jewelry.

Oops! lol!
I should have said: Much like the rednecks in Springfield who call them white perch, we call the freshwater drum Gaspergou.
I've never noticed those bones in their fillets though. Are they similar to the "star bones" that run down the sides of the buffalo fish?
