Fish ID needed

MY husband caught this fish today (we released it) but we can't figure out what it is

We know what it isn't. Can anyone help with an ID? We live in Iowa and was caught in a lake.

We call them DRUM around here, called them SHEEPHEAD in Il. They are a type of carp.

looks like a carp......it can be used for chicken treats if you dont want to eat carp.

If there' s a black spot on the tail, it's a Red Drum.

It's NOT a Carp...The mouth is too big

yep a drum, some rednecks around here call them white perch....they of course are not at all a perch....it is a drum....a rough fish....not a carp

We call em' Gaspergou.
Small ones like that can be fried up, and taste just fine.

That is a Freshwater drum. Watch for the bones along the center of the fillet.

Red drum and sheephead are salt water fish.
