Finally! Dh and DD worked for 2 days running slabs of wood around the bottom of our runs and filling them with wood chips from a neighbor that runs his own sawmill at his barn. The wood chips are 8-10 inches deep. DD now only has to take a garden fork and turn the chips over occasionaly. It also has landscape cloth used under roads under the chips. This was all free! We were thinking of putting a roof over it, but decided not to after finding all these free materials! They made the sides high enough that the chickens can't kick them out when they scratch! YEAH!!! Info: The front run is 9'x9' and the back run is shaped like a triangle and is 20'x30'x22'(gate side). DID I MENTION THAT IT SMELLS BETTER TOO??

Lol, good idea! I LOVE DE! Not only does it get rid of the flys/gnats, it helps with the smell and drys up the run(as long as it doesn't keep raining).

Now #2 project on the honey do list, make another coop and or add to existing big coop. DD has babies to hatch yet. Lol
