Fixing Wry Neck?

They truly are ML. They seem to win you over as soon as they come out of the shell!

. I even dearly love my very aggressive ganders even though they are quite the pain when it comes to feeding everyone

Boy I know what you mean, I only have a gander but he is protector of 1 duck and 1 duckling and it can be trying at times to do anything if he is around. LOL but I love that big ole guy too.

LOL! He sounds like he's a very good Daddy to the others. Though it's hard to tell that to yourself when you have bruises from their bites

. Even when they are going through their hormone fits they are still such lovely creatures

. I think I'll be trying to add some more next year but no more African or Chinese breeds for me. They just seem to be more aggressive breeds.

I have read that too, my gander is Embden and he can be something else to deal with, but has such a soft side when it comes to ducklings, He finally found his calling this year, I was so hoping to find him a goose gosling this year too, but can't find any in our state or even close by, but I will keep looking for now he is very content to follow his duckling around. My hearts desire is to someday have American Buff. But we would have to do more fencing and not sure I can convince my dh to do more since we have such steep terrain.

I love the looks of Embden but can never find them locally. Even in the spring people only carry White Chinese, Brown Chinese, and Africans here. Glad he found a passion though! Ganders can be such sweet heart when it comes to babies. The American Buffs are so gorgeous! I love the Lavender Americans Holderreads sells

. I'd love to keep a few breeds of Geese here but building pens is so expensive and takes up so much room.

Thats our problem here too, not much flat land to build on, I almost had my dh convinced we should put up a barn type structure behind us but the more he thought about how expensive it would be to make the ground level to even start the construction he talked us both out of it.

I have always loved Buff and lavenders are gorgeous, and I also like Pilgrims. When we got our goose egg [swapped some scovie eggs fro 1] the man we got it from had lots of Emdens but he has since retired and got out of raising them and I have never seen an Embden for sale anywhere around here. A friend was hatching some Toulouse and also Poms but both hatches didn't make it so we'll just keep looking. I'd even get a mature female if I could find one.

The land down here is so downhill too it's ridiculous. Plus of course it's only down hill in some sections so I still get poor drainage in all the pens

. I've heard a lot of people have had poor hatch rates this year too. I guess this year is just full of bad luck

. Hopefully next year will be filled with better hatches and fewer problems

My chicken appears to have wry neck. I've been giving her Vit. B, E, Selenium, and Prednisone. It's been 4 days since I started treatment. Do y'all have any idea about how long this might take to get better? Or what/when will I need to decide if I need to have her put down?

I would post here https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures since the thread your on is the goose thread i think you'd get more feed back on the link I have given you. Good luck with your chicken.
