Flan Cake (pic)

I am the worst desert maker ever! mine turned out terrible
lol.png

My metal bundt pan that looks like the one in the pic was to small for it, so I used my nice large, straight sided, silcone one . . . followed all the directions exactly . . . it looked beautiful while still in the pan . . . I waited the exact time to remove from pan (something I don't usually have the patience for) then I inverted it onto a beautiful serving platter . . . and the entire middle was soup; it ran all over the counter, down the cupboards and onto the floor!!!!
I SUCK AT DESERTS!!!! Back to costco pumpkin pies for me

But it is really beautiful in the pics and I am jealous of all of you with the knack for sweets!

I think you forgot to let it cool completely in the pan before inverting. I too am impatient when cooking so I set the timer to keep it in the hot water bath for the extra 15 minutes. I took it out of the water and then I almost forgot it on the counter. I think that was a good thing as it was cool to the touch when I flipped it onto the plate.

I have never tried this type of cake before... (and as we have no cake mixes here I wont be able to) but I am intrigued... can someone tell me if this is something like the english steamed pudding in texture?

3chickens I know you will be pleased. I got lots of complements and requests for the recipe. Many thanks to BettyR and all the others for sharing their wonderful recipies. Remember that you don't need too much syrup and to spray the pan well.
