They've been very handy in more than few scenarios.

@aart that holder is brilliant.

I used cereal containers and made one for each round of chicks in the brooder. After the babies moved outside, I moved these to their runs as back-up in case they knock over other waterers. They stay surprisingly clean but are easy to wash out either way.

Drill a couple holes in the top to avoid any chance of a vacuum. Otherwise, make sure the top seals well so they don't fall in and that nobody can get hung up in the fastening system. Super duper easy.
