I'm getting ready to try and change my flock over from a regular waterer to the nipple type spigots you see on the automatic watering systems (although mine will be connected to buckets). Is there any type of flavoring which can be added to the water which would entice the chickens to use the new spigots? So far, I've been unable to find ACV with "mother" in my area...

I may stand corrected by some wiser posters but I don't think the taste of water matters much to chickens. Are the nipples you bought red? Most of the feed/water containers are colored red because of the curiosity of chickens to investigate certain colors. Mine went after the nipple waterers immediately. If you toggle the nipple so some water drips out, they will probably get the idea. They have excellent eyesight and can find a bug crawling across the run. I don't think you will have problems but you may want to hear from someone who has regarding what to do.. I just don't think flavored water is the answer.

I agree that flavored water isn't the answer. Red is the answer. Laying around somewhere on this farm is a huge nipple waterer system left over from the commercial houses. The spigots are red.
