flax seed

Can I feed flaxseed to my chickens? They already get Layena + treats of raisens,cauliflour,yogurt and tomatoes.They also get to free-range in the yard some days. I heard it can raise the level of Omega-3 in the eggs. Truth?

well it should be ground to be most effective
also green grass fed with granite grit for chickens to grind the grass
grass is high in omeaga 3 oils

if feeding whole or ground grains feed grit with it free choice

I mix flax seed in with my layer feed...the ladies love it. I can definitely tell a difference in their plumage.
