Flax seed

I agree that pre ground flax/linseed is not a good idea. It does not maintain nutrients well after grinding. Best to grind it fresh every few days or feed it whole if giving to animals that can digest it. Such animals being all birds and most herbivores. Carnivores and some omnivores (dogs, cats, etc...) are the ones that need it ground. Some older horses with poor teeth also don't chew it enough. For humans you can just eat the seeds plain. They were eaten like nuts in some cultures and taste somewhat similar. Add some fish to the diet and eat flaxseed, nuts, and sunflower seeds for snacks and you'd probably have quite an impact on your diet.
