Has anyone use the Dia. earth to dust their dogs & cats successfully for killing fleas?? can u use it on carpets as well
We seem to have a sudden invasion of the little itchy, bitting buggers!
we use the frontline on our animals but this is bad!!!

I don't know anything about DE and fleas, but I do know that Frontline has stopped working for fleas on my pets. Our vet said the fleas are becoming immune to it. She switched to Promeris, or Premeris, I just used the last one and don't have a package handy. It has worked well for us. Costs the same, but lasts twice as long. Each application lasts about 2 months.

I rubbed my dogs down with De really good and IT DID NOT KILL THE FLEAS. didn;t hurt the dogs but didn't kill any fleas either. Tried drops didn'twork, tried Adams Flea spray and it did kill but you have to spray pretty regular.Best way I found to get themout of my carpets is to steam clean them and them vaccum every day forat least a month.(Be sure to toss the bag after you vaccum) marrie

I tried an experiment with DE and ants outside too. The ants were still there the following day but by the 3rd day they were toast. The literature on DE confirms that it takes 72 hours to work unlike stronger chemicals that work faster.

Alot of the flea powders they sell are just fancy containers of DE. I love it...use it all over my garden...helps keep the ticks down (were having a rough tick season) It takes awhile because the bug is actually cut open by it (works on exoskeletons) and it has to dehydrate...just don't inhale it...it's the only way it can hurt us. They also sell it with Pyrethrins (sp? in it and that really helps too!
