So my neighbors ducks keep getting these black patches on them. When they finally got a closer look the patches look like thousands of fleas. She is wondering what she could do to rid her ducks of this. Included a picture.

Those are stick tight fleas. Do an on site search for information on how to control them.

@casportpony can you help here ?

 And i thought ducks cannot get flees, ticks, lice and other external parasites because their body temperature is too high and they are in contact with so much water.
    I've learned something new today!

Sadly, they can get all of the same internal and external parasites that chickens get. :(

Oh, I almost forgot! When ducks get them like this, be sure to check their entire body, especially on their backs, between their wings. I don't know why, but to some reason the fleas like this area too. Also check their vents.

You would be very surprised by how many parasites seabirds carry then. And they only leave the water to nest once a year.
