flies everywhere in my house YUCK!!!

Quote:
I had repeated problems with these in SC. Ended up pouring about a fourth of a cup of ammonia in every drain just before I went to bed at night and eventually got rid of them.

well I have been cleaning all morning and in one of my rare an very expensive house plants (cant remember the name but it only blooms after being 3 years old or more and was a gift that I cherish, I have now had it for 4 years) Anyway I keep this straw stuff around the pot for looks and to help keep from getting too dry between waterings, when I lifed it up I saw eggs in the soil!!!

so now all the house plants are outside and sticky tape is everywhere!

I am gonna replant the house plant and look into a poison of some sort, I usually go organic but since this is not a food plant and has to live indoors I will get something caustic that will keep this from happening again. any suggestions as I have no idea as to what chemical I should be looking for.

I am also gonna clean all of my drains although I cant think of any that are not used often it is worth a shoot anyway.

I really feel almost like crying over it, I know it sounds silly but it is making me feel gross in my own home and thats the one place where I want to feel safe.

I wonder if sprinkling a little Gold Malrin on the soil of your houseplants would work? You can get it at your local feed store.

I tried the zip lock bag w/h20...It did not help.Cleaned all the drains w/baking soda and vinegar...The flies must just be bad this year as everyone seems to be having problems..I have noticed that the ones I get in the house have been kids not closing the door or standing there w/the door open for the pups to go in and out..It is raining today and have yet to see 1 fly...."YEAH" A little break from the flies..

oh dont have any traps, having 4 outdoor cats keep all rodents at bay either that or they end up kitty toys

Cleaning is continuing and I am washing everything in site and moving all furniture. I know the plant was a big source but there must be others. now if I could just keep from walking into the fly tape i will be alright

I forgot to mention another idea. If all the flies in your house look exactly alike that means there probably reproducing some where. I know your thinking Duh! Well if you can positivly identify the fly, you can then type its name in the the internet and find where they reproduce. That said you can either remove the reproduction site and thus remove the flies. Catch one in a jar, freeze it so you can get a good look at it and describ it or take a pic and post it. The more you know the better you can control it.

well folks its been 5 years since you all posted about flies. I opened my door this morning and 250 flies came in. (i may be eggzagerating) a bit. I'm thinking they reproduce in the chicken poo, don't you? well we tried the bag and water, penny thing a few years back, did not work. did the jug thing seemed to work as long as it was in the sun. won't do the sticky paper,or chemicals, so what did you all find worked for you?
