Flies HOW TO GET RID ?

I have a compost pile that is mostly straw, pine shavings and manure, and I sprinkled some lime on it. Now it is just starting to get warm out and I noticed a huge cloud of baby flies (I think) over the top of it lately. I need to get rid of these. Is there something I need to add to the pile or cover it with. I cannot have these flies my neighbors will kill me.

O yeah I did put a tarp over some of it but that is not working

Put DE (diatomacious earth) in the compost. It is supposed to keep flies from laying in poo. Hopefully someone with a lot more knowledge about this will chime in.

If the DE doesn't work, try www.spalding-labs.com for their predator wasp control program...

We've used it around our barn with goats/sheep and chickens and it works well... min order listed worked for 9 goats, 25 hair sheep and 50 chickens when spread liberally around the barn area where poop is...
