Mutt Farm
Songster
Oh boy the flies! It has been an ongoing battle this year. I was fit to be tied. I used every suggestion that has been posted here so far and a couple more. My neighbors have 2 hogs, feed fermented slop and don't haul off manure.
Above my entry doors, I use a battery operated metered spray by Country Vet. Those are working really well.
Around the premises (away from the coop and doors) I use the fly bag traps.
In and around the coop, in the horse stalls the garage I use the vanilla car fresheners (they really do work for me) and sticky fly tape. (My coop is a barn stall, too open air for the no pest strip)
No Pest Strip works great in my kennel room as they don't work as well in open air.
I planted basil, mint, thyme all around the barn and in planters on my front porch. The flies hate it.
I spray the walls with Bayer Permectrin II premise and barn spray labeled for poultry.
I'm winning. I've seen a remarkable decrease in the fly population.
