I am looking for recommendations for flight pen size to house either 30 Coturnix or 30 Bobwhites. I would also like to hear what size flight pen would be needed for around 25 chukars?

thanks

30 sq. ft. for 30 bobs or coturnix. But I'v heard you can safely put more than that in. A 5x6 pen should suffice.

Currently I have around 22 quail in my flight pen that is 7 by 8 feet. It has a house attached to it that is 7 by 7 feet in size. I calculated the measurements and I have room for around 40 to 50 quail total in there.

Hope this helps!

how high are your pens? I want to make sure that the birds can fly when they are flushed.

My outside flight pen for them is 4 feet tall on the sides and 6 feet tall in the middle. Their house is also 6 feet tall!

1 Square Foot Per Bird Is Fine For Coturnix But Will Lead To Carnage During Breeding Season With Bob Whites.

So if one Square foot is not big enough for Bobwhites, then how much space do they need?

David

Sorry for asking so many questions, but would 16' L X 4' W X 6' H be a large enough flight pen for 30 Coturnix?

Thanks

willow_lane,
16' L X 4' W X 6' would be more than enough for 30 Coturnix.

mustanger,
Sorry I really don't know enough about bobs to answer you question.

Thanks, but I guess my question was addressed to JJMR794. He is the one that said one square foot is not enough for Bobwhites. He seems to have a lot of experience with Bobwhites so I was hoping he would tell us what he thinks they need. I have no experience with them and am trying my best to get started on the right foot. I sure appreciate all the advice I can get and all the comments that are being made in this regard. This list has made for some very informative reading. There are a lot of well experienced folks on this list.

Thanks,

David
