flip flop danger? story on msn

I saw it on the Today Show and, honestly, I don't care. I love flip flops. Next to beign barefoot, it's the ultimate freedom. I wear flip flops for farm work (I own horses).

Same I love flip flops too and am not saying we/I/you should'nt wear them, it's just something to be aware of. and yes there are germs on all shoes and stuff but I think flip flops are more concerning to people because you are coming into direct contact with the germs. But I love flip flops and will continue to wear them, just not filthy places like the mall and city and such. I will prob only wear them to beach, pool, friends houses, hanging out, etc and not malls and cities and stuff. If you have good flip flops they are good/comfy but I still don't think I could walk far in them. I don't get and/or like those like cheapy paper thin flip flops that break/wear easy, are uncomfortable, that really are "floppy", etc. like what's the point? i would rather just get a good quality, nice, thick, comfy pair of flip flops that will last for years or at least a while in the first place instead of getting the poor quality cheapy flip flops and then having to replace them every year, it just seems like kind of a waste to me. I love flip flops and will probably just wash/disinfect them and just be more aware but still wear em.

Did you guys know that there are microscopic spider-like creatures that live in human eyelashes?

Ok Chickenlady, did you really have to remind me of that?

On flip-flops: lived in them when I was younger- if I couldn't get away with bare feet.

Now, at a mere 49 years of age, I have to hobble around in Old Lady Shoes with orthotics.

If your parents or grandparents have a history of foot problems, please avoid wearing flip-flops. The way your toes grip the shoe produces hammertoes and can increase the likelihood of bunions and plantar fasciitis.

But germs? Please. Like Chickenlady says, just don't look at the stuff in your eyes under a microscope and we'll all be better off.

I do flipflops. I hose my feet off and bath everyday so I hope I'm Ok.

My hubby freaks out if I have any chicken poop ( dirt ) on my feet. He assumes it's all poop.

I actually like to use the pumice stones on my feet to keep them all pretty.
I will still wear my flipflops.

I love to slip them on in a hurry. Hasn't killed me yet.
