I believe the predator to have been a bob cat as I was told by neighbors a month or so ago they had seen one around.  

Absolutely not. Bobkitties do not as a rule thrill kill as described. They like all felines may "play" with their food or kill when not hungry but never wantonly. Also they will not by choice leave an uncovered carcass.
Canines and bears are the most likely to thrill kill, defined as wholesale slaughter without the apparent need to feed, with mustelids being next most likely.

But they'd have to scale a 5 foot fence as all yards and pastures are fenced and there are no digs or breaks.......?????.....

Some dogs are very adept at clearing fences as it is a learning rather than a physical limitation for many medium sized dogs. Look closer for gaps. Coyotes and foxes, also canids, even better about getting past fences and they will kill multiple birds and leave some lay if interrupted while policing bodied up for caching.

You've already gotten great advice, and seem to be duing all the right things.
I've had amazing results with just using electrolytes after injuries. I also offer cooked up an eggs. If you can get them to eat and drink they are much more likely to survive.

I trained my hounds to climb fences by stringing hog wire in the kennel. Food and water on one side dog house on the other. Of course that meant I had to keep either a top or hot wire on my six foot chain link kennels. Did this so they had the skills to go where they needed to tree a coon. Heck, had a few that went up the tree as well.

I have an Australian Shepherd cross that can climb anything she can get her foot through. Her kennel has a top on it to keep her contained:

So you think a hot wire running across the top of the chain link and farm fence would be appropriate? I need to find some kind of solution here. Was down on count when I went out to milk last night. Too dark to see much of anything but the morning brings 3 more bodies under trees. One hen survived the night in the house....The rooster is alive, but now unable to move his head. I will put him down out of compassion. As I said this is the part of farming/ranching that I hate!
