Aaawwwww, little SquishyThrow Back Thursday:
Since I missed Throw Back Thursday this week I thought I will share something from my Journey.
After losing 7 of my 8 original ladies and only having Hazel left my partner and I decided she can't be alone. So we then got Day old chicks.

3 Black Australorps, 3 Rhode Island Reds and 2 Light Sussex (breeder only had 2 that hatched).
As you noticed in my current flock I don't have any Light Sussex anymore. So today I will share the story of this.
I started to notice that 1 Little Sussex was not growing and a lot smaller then the other.

My nieces decided to call it Squishy.
I then researched why Squishy was soooo small and worked her it was a Special Bird and wouldn't last to mature. I explained to our Nieces that Squishy won't live ever long.

It then got the 5 weeks old and I decided to put the others in with Hazel and keep Squishy and a Black Australorp in the brooder as she had a sore leg. That same night the bulb blow in the heat lamp but being over 5 weeks old they should be ok without it. So I took this as a sign the lamp is now off.

The above photo was over 5 weeks old. The next morning I woke up and Squishy didn't make it through the night. It was super sad.
So then I just had Chippy the Little Sussex Cockerel.

He was happy and healthy but one afternoon him and my Black Australorp Cockerel decided to fight a fox and Chippy got a bite mark and survived for only 3 more days until he stopped drinking I think and passed while I was at work.
Next week ill talk more about the Black Australorps.
