Thank you!! And Happy Birthday to your little one!!:ya
Thank you! Hope you had a happy anniversary! We had a lil birthday party for him 2 weeks ago at our old home town 6 hours away (it was the day after my husband had a class there)

Hello everyone! It's January 31, 10:54AM here in chilly Florida. I'll go out and get some pictures of the flock this afternoon. I'm about to eat some crabs!

Anyone else like crab?

Wow! Although I'm too chicken to prepare them myself I do love crab!

Had them out for six hours today.
I spent most of the time out watching them. Won’t be able to have them out on their own till the fox is got.

Glad to see the rest of the flock doing well! I've never seen a duck like the black and white one! I have seen magpies but I don't think their beaks are usually that colour, or is it a magpie?

Is he afraid because of the weather? Or?
Jordan only worrys about me driving if ive been crying then something bad usually happens.
Yes I think so, it was soo incredibly cold yesterday. Next week hopefully will be better as I have to go out at least twice next week.

Getting ready for work! Only need to last today then my partner and I are on Holidays for a week!
I got T-bone steak out for dinner too :drool can't wait!
Exciting! Hope you have fun on your holiday! We are going to the states on the 28th to visit family and go to a wedding. I am excited and stressed about it at the same time.

Has anyone else noticed their chickens being particularly excited today? My flock has been running around and flapping about, even Gimpy!

Can you spot the chicken? Not the silver one on the edge, the one under the wisteria.

Aww look at all them bantams! Is the frizzle next to the muscovies a bantam? If so that's a pretty big but beautiful bantam :love

The weakest baby is loving his applesauce:love
How sweet! :love How's the other baby doing?

Hi guys
I’m so tired! I have to watch a documentary for math and write the answers. :sick
Oh, bleh! I do love math sometimes but a documentary...last summer I was in Arizona visiting my paternal family and my dad suddenly had the idea to show my then 9 year old sister math videos on youtube. She ran to her room because she only had 2 weeks of summer left and didn't want to spend it doing schoolwork.

Oh I keep forgetting to tell you, I like the quote in your signature. A day after I read it, I read this sad story...https://people.com/human-interest/arya-greenlee-dead-diabetes-missouri/ I was surprised when I read her shirt because I had just read your quote the day before..I edited out her face because the story is just so sad and I would feel weird posting pics of other people's kids

I’m thinking I’ll name it Bambi, but I’m not sure yet :)

Thank you! :hugs

Good morning ;)
Sweet, my mom's dog is named Bambi. She names all her cats Mimi and dogs Kiki, except that one she named Bambi. :idunno

Aww, I would've followed your thread.

Well anyway, have a good day everyone,

It's as though Keith knows it is his birthday even though he is only one. Spent half the morning cleaning up the floor because he took the cat's water dish and decided to make it rain, had screaming fits when he took a hold of my mouse and phone and I tried to take it back from him, then proceeded to play dump truck with the trash can so he could put his book in it.

Yeah, he's a frizzled Bantam Cochin. The Fluff really makes him look bigger than he actually is!

Something inside his fluffy little head has snapped today. :hit As I've posted before, he's been the least cockerel-y cockerel I've had the honor of having. He's only crowed once, I've seen him try mounting a pullet once and in general has been really calm for a 5 month old cockerel.

I have the Bantam and the standard sized chickens in separate coops at night, but they are out together during the day. Mr.Fluffball stays with the standard pullets at night because they have way more room.

Everyone gets excited when let out in the morning, they jump and run and flap around. Once everyone calms down little fluffy dude decides to do something, something that I rather not have him do. First he's halfway trying to mount one of the Bantam girls.

Now, that doesn't particularly bother me, that's what cockerels do! If they get too rough or just stand on the girls back too long I just shoo them off. He then proceeded to attack the girls! Pecking them and chasing them, but not trying to mount them. :barnie

At this moment he's in the coop away from the girls. I don't really trust him enough right now not to injure the pullets. I'll wait and see if this is going to be a ongoing problem.

How have you guys handled a overzealous cockerel? I know he should calm down months down the road, but what do you do?

I've seen some people separate during this period, like a look but don't touch type situation. If he continues this behavior I might have to try this. He's a good looking cockerel and has been nice up until now.

I hope he gets it though his head this is not the behavior anyone wants from him. :fl
