Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Weather Update:
Looks like we have a storm on its way. May hit us or may not. Hopefully we will get some rain from it.
Keep you all posted.

Storm Update - didn't last very long at all. Lightning, thunder and pretty much no rain. On the radar looks like we should be getting rain but hardly any.

Has anyone had a successful rooster flock? How do you make sure they don't fight?
Yep! @RoostersAreAwesome has a rooster flock, successfully. And has an article in which I will go through today. Sorting the pros and main cons of a rooster flock.
They are all really beautiful but im with your mum Mercury is gorgeous!

You need to ask yourself 2 things.
Are you going to utilise the other 3 boys? For Breeding or Protecting the flock honey?
If you aren't going to utilise them :confused:id probably rehome them honey. I know its hard but would they be happy with all boys and no ladies?
Thanks! I guess I didn’t think about that. But I think the 3 boys would be calmer with no girls around. And they’d still get to free range.
Kayla I’m glad you’re going to try the rooster flock although I do agree with Krystal unless you think they will be happy being pets and won’t be aggressive. I might have a bantam rooster flock one day when I get chickens. I might occasionally breed them.

Today is my grandfather’s cousin’s birthday. Susie passed away in November. She was happy to beat cancer but died of emphysema. If it weren’t for her taking an AncestryDNA test I wouldn’t have been able to find out who my grandfather was. He was a US marine in the Vietnam war. I have since been able to grow that branch of my family tree back to Viking times and it has become what will be a lifelong hobby. We also got my husband’s great grandma DNA tested, I’m glad we did because I found a lot of connections with relatives that I wouldn’t have and learned about DH and DS’s family history. Might be something you may want to consider getting your mom if you or your family has any interest in family history.

Lol I called my mom to rat him out and she said something that made it sound like she agreed with him. I was like mom if you’re not gonna call him a doofus or something we can drop the subject. Except I said it in Vietnamese and there isn’t a word for doofus that I know of in Viet but yeah something along those lines. Glad you are getting better.

x3

About Hailey, that poor girl. I know polygraph tests aren’t admissible in court but they should still do them. Some cold cases are being cracked recently using genetic genealogy but without any DNA to go off there isn’t much that can be done. That’s why I wish more drones can be put in public places, or CCTV cameras. Too many people care too much about privacy at the cost of security. I wish they’d leave their privacy concerns at home or in the bathroom.
Thanks! And tell him Happy Birthday from me!

Well alright guys... I’ve sat down and talked about it. Once my Bantam chicks are old enough to sex (I’m only keeping pullets). I’ll take all the extra boys to the Poultry auction. :)

Sounds like a great idea. Its always good to have a plan prior. I always have a plan and it hurts but I stick to my plan.

I’m going to miss those boys. Although before I make it final, I could keep Napolean and Dynamite, they share a coop (just those two in that coop) as is and don’t fight anymore since there is no girls in that coop. So leaving just Pandora and any cockerels that come from my chicks to be rehomed. I guess I could start my coop build early and place an order (or hatch) enough girls for those two boys. :barnie I think I’m in over my head with this whole thing now. I’ll speak to mom and my sister and see what they think.

Good idea. Get some advice love. I always come to Jordan with opinion but also I do it to. To see if they see an issue that I haven't seen or considered love.

I told myself that I was going to sell all the male cochins I hatched last year, but I ended up keeping two.(the one because he was a blue mottled and the other because he was so shapely:))
Of course, of the nineteen cochin chicks we hatched, only three are girls. That's better than the year before, though. All ten of those were boys.:barnie
