Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Okay yall... I was out with my gals.. I was out there about 10-15 minutes... and 4 of them were sneezing! What does that mean?
I googled and there is some sickness that could be caused by dampness... weeelll, it is VERY wet here! The run is saturated but not a slopping mud hole.. just wetness. So don’t know if that’s the cause.. is there something I should do? Plus, now when I handle them or just go out there.. I have to change my clothes :thbefore handling the chicks so as not to spread anything to them:fl

Sorry about the sickness all around :(

Hi I’m Sariah, on the edge of the Rockies (USA). I have 4 kids, 5 chickens, a dog, and 8 quail. All the (non-human) critters joined our family in the past year. Because I am crazy.

The ladies:

Raven (Olive Egger), Nibbles & Arrowhead (Dark Brahma), Cheeks, and Sunflower (Easter Eggers). At least one Brahma and one Easter Egger started laying for the first time last week. :celebrate
I built their coop and run myself this past fall, learning as I went with lots of internet research. It’s not perfect, but it’s at least sturdy.

Got the dog for the kids, but being a mix he far outgrew our expectations, so they are intimidated by him. And being very young he has a ridiculous amount of energy. :th

The quail were a spur of the moment decision, and have been quite an adventure too. The kids adore them. Possibly because they stayed small enough to hold. :)

My life is as crazy as it sounds, so I’ll pop in from time to time as I can. :)

Hi:frow... what a beautiful flock! Sounds like you’re having fun:lol:... and I feel for ya.. those “puppy days”:tongue :th

Hi! My name is Kristen and I'm new to raising poultry. I started about 8 months ago with 4 Americaunas and 2 Pekin ducks. Since then I've added 7 Sapphire gems, 3 Featherless Neck or Turkens, 3 Ayem Cemanis, 3 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Jersey Giants, 3 Barnevelders, 3 Rhode Island Reds, 3 Buckeyes, 3 Yellow Sex Links, 3 Brahmas and 3 Cornish Broilers. I'm looking to add a few more ducks, but haven't yet decided on breeds. I'm looking at runners, harlequinns and rouenns currently. All of my chicks are new additions except for the original four Americaunas and two ducks. So...i will be working very hard to ensure everyone gets plenty of care and attention. I should have plenty of updates for this thread lol
2018 was a horrible year for me and probably others too.
2019 will be better much better I hope.
I will be posting daily updates of my Flock and general things about life here.

I was thinking others could post their updates and journeys on here too. Keep in touch and learn from each other :D

Please post an introduction and start the sharing fun :pop
