NiceBeen snowing and raining all day today, Just when we thought winter was over. Lol
The flock has been staying around the trees all day, keeping out of the cold wind.
Getting ready for st Patrick’s day
Put a few flags up.

Not good news in the coop...
I was shoveling the chooks out as normal when I heard this deep, deep cluck. I then heard the deep cluck, now almost a wheeze again to the right of me, where it was Jessie and Charlotte, last years pullets. I listened to Jessie, who was squirming around, but she was fine. As I put Jessie down, Charlotte jumped on my lap with a cluck followed by a wheeze in and out. She wasn't opening her beak or lethargic whatsoever, but I knew something was wrong.
I brought her inside and fed her some yogurt and medicated pellets. She ate them happily but after she was still wheezing every so often- a drawn out low cluck always in pairs. The question is to give her antibiotics (Tylan 50 is it?) now, or wait it out a bit. She is still outside and playing with her little flock members, no sign of sickness.I don't often get respiratory illnesses in the flock, sort of my weak spot.

Eggs have been set! 2 separate incubators. 5 duck eggs and 5 chicken eggs.![]()

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to cause gleet by unnecessarily giving her antibiotics. I'll check her tonight and tomorrow morning, and if she's still wheezing by tomorrow afternoon, I'll give her a small dose. I'm just hoping it's not viral.Ellie, I tend to watch and see how they are doing. As long as they are eating, drinking, pooping and bouncing around with the others, they'll often get better on their own.
Gonna read on respiratory illnesses for the rest of the day.View attachment 1697188 If this aint the cutest thang you ever saw!!!!
