Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Say hello to Gina the guinea...my moms neighbor couldn't keep her and she's broody so when i get my keets on Friday she will be a happy hen!View attachment 1809488 View attachment 1809490
she’s still broody after being taken away from her nest ?
I’d be very careful when introducing her to the keets, broody guineas are crazy.
I tried to move one with keets into our barn last year because of a storm forecasted for the next day and she started attacking her keets and ended up killing two.
I ended up raising them in a brooder and reintroduced them to her when they were 6 weeks old.

Jazzy here is still broody. I've taken her off the nest at least every four hours and made sure she stayed out during her free range. I gave her a cold water bath as it was 79*F yesterday and heard it helped with broodiness. It seemed to just distract her with preening her wet feathers. I'm hesitant to put her in "prison" but I might do just that today.

Any tips are welcome!

If you have a wire-bottomed cage you should be able to break her quickly. Depending on where my girls go broody, I'll really just keep them away from the nest. That usually means locking them in the coop or keeping them out of the coop. Today is day three of keeping my Porcelain Booted Bantam locked up and keeping one of the ducks locked out! :gig I'd go ahead and send her to prison. It will be much easier in the long run if you do that now. It shouldn't take more than a week most likely. Unlike the weeks of trying to break her just by shooing her off the nest.

I know!! I won’t even ask the girl if he’s a good boy... I just might cry :hit

Why do all the pretty ones end up being meanies as chicks and such gorgeous baby lap birds as adults? :hit:hit My buffs are all gorgeous were jerks and now awesome birds...:hiti feel for ya!
