Well everyone is liking the new set up I guess. Though I was late letting them out this morning and i got the chicken look of death, maybe saw one hiding a picket sign

I'm worried about Cajun... she hasn't been laying and I've been trying to catch her to see if she's egg bound and Lil miss thing is FAST! I almost got her this morning but no luck. I hope it's just the heat and she is taking a "break" I might need to get my kids to help me corner her some how.

It started off sad... all our hatching eggs failed But ended with a cooling storm that had all chooks running to coop... i went to close door and this morning realized the new girls had run in with the others!!! And everyone got along all night!!! (The barn is close to coop so i see how they got confused) Cajun accepts Sundae(my new Australorp) and they roosted together! I'll give everyone electrolytes and vitamins mix... but new girls been here a week and no digns if anything, but I'll do vitamins just in case and keep watching.

This morning we moved feeders and waterers out into the run under the tarp to encourage the silly birds to go stay outside, instead of steaming themselves in the coop. Plus fire ants bad!!

We had to sell off many of our babies due to bill issues so we're down to 20 again. So it's been a roller coaster over here!! But got a "class pic" before!

Good morning!
I pulled an idiot move last night and I’ve never done this before in three years!

I have this little part of the coop I call the “sun room.” (My coop is a converted play structure and this little space is beneath the old play structure deck... has a roof and one wall and gas hardware cloth on three sides.) I have one removable panel and never put it back on last night, so the entire flock was exposed to whatever wanted to come into the coop. Thankfully the chicken gods were smiling upon us and we had no unwanted visitors last night. My heart started racing the second I saw it early this morning, but all was well. Close one!

Oh my gosh!! SO glad all was well!!! I sometimes worry if I locked all locks at bedtime so I can imagine your horror... but then quickly turned joy
