Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Got some decent pics of the older three Brahma mixes. Looks like the red is definitely a girl. The other two are OE girl babies, not sure on sex just yet. Though wondering if white might be a boy?

Today I had a feeling that I should check up on this thread, so I went to the last post that I "liked", and it just happened to be December 13. It's ironic that today is the 13th so exactly 2 months later. I can't believe it has been 2 months...

I hope you all had a happy holidays.

As for news for me, my son turned 2 almost 2 weeks ago. I ordered 6 chicks from Performance Poultry. They are 3 and a half hours from me but I can't wait to make the drive on either April 24 or 25th to pick them up. Some of their chicks they import from Ideal Poultry and others they breed themselves or get from other breeders.

Anyways these are the breeds I'm getting, all bantams:

Blue laced red wyandotte
Barred rock
Mottled cochin
Silver laced cochin
Gold laced cochin
Mille fleur d'Uccle

I had a hard time deciding so I narrowed it down by picking the most patterned birds. I was tempted to add a dark brahma but I am getting the below coop which is the most insulated premade coop I can find but only allows for 3 medium sized birds. I am allowed 5 hens so I hope I get at least a couple hens and that I'll be able to rehome the remaining roos.

As for my current pets- out of my original button quail pair, I got someone to hatch 8 of their eggs, there were 4 silver and 4 normal colored. The same week I tried to rehome the males they got in a fight and died when I was at work. One of the females got injured in the fight so she died too. One of the males flew out a small opening of the terrarium and we thought the cat ate him because we looked for his body all over the house and could not find it. One day I made spaghetti and meatballs, a meatball rolled under the oven, I reached in and out came the dead quail. I will not say how long after he was missing this occured, either because I don't know or don't want to know..anyway RIP dear birds. Quail are too much for me. I am keeping the mother and daughter I have left but won't get anymore unless I'm retired and have a ton of time to devote to them. Chickens I just have to get because I'm too addicted.

Hey, cool that you're getting an Eglu! Would you let me know how you get on with it? Thank you so much!
