I could use some help. We live in northern Arkansas and it has been really hot the past 3 days.We got (12) month old barred rock pullets in February and 50 mixed buffs and road island reds in March. Everyone has been doing great and we hadn't lost any chickens. We lost 2 buffs in the past 2 days, one hen and one rooster.Maybe heat related. We started watering the yard and put a fan in the coop. Right before the heat wave we noticed 1 rooster hiding in the corner and checked him out. He had a spongy crop and leaked fluid when I picked him up. We checked the posts and sour crop seemed to match the symptoms. We've been checking everyone every morning and massaging crops of those who are spongy. This morning we noticed fuzzy white mold in the areas were food was on the ground. No one wanted to leave the coop or eat. Our food appears normal and dry. We keep it in metal trash cans. As a side note we have notice our chickens are not eating any of the bugs in their yard. They have a large fenced in area with grass and shade. Any advice is welcome on how to deal with the white mold, sour crop and heat.
