Has anyone ever kept a flock of ONLY roosters? We have 3 roos less than 6 months old that we need to re-home. A gentleman has offered to take all three, and he has no other chickens (or pets) but has raised ducks for a long time. So far, my guys are "birds of a feather" and stay together all day, but I am worried that will become aggressive when they are fully mature.

Does anyone know what would happen in a "rooster monastery"? Can these little guys stay friends forever (BFFs) if they have no ladies to fight over?

Thanks,
caroline

Wow! I don't know what I'd do without you all and this forum. Thanks for making giving up our little birds slightly less nerve-wracking!

I've been starting to read into them incase it turns out I have more than the one cockerel I want and I can't find homes for them.. I'm hoping if I need to I'll be able to find them homes but otherwise I want to be prepared to keep them on their own

There are many chicken keepers in this forum that keep bachelor pads with different amounts of cockerels and roosters. It works out fine for many of them. It all depends on the individual personalities and how they interact in a group, once they establish their pecking order things should go smooth with a small fight every now and then. I have 3 nine weeks old cockerels that I moved into their own pad. I plan to keep them there for a long time (if all goes well) because they are beautiful and I like roosters.

I have a flock of 6 roosters that live together with no hens. It works really well except for occasional small fights. :)
Can I ask, what is considered a small fight?
I am brand new to chickens and bought three, one dies after two days, and the other two are roosters. I got them on Mothers day this year, and I believe they about 3 1/2 to 4 months now I guess. They absolutely do not like to be separated from each other, but yesterday they started fighting every time they both were on the ground. One or the other of them ended up pinned by the other at which point was when I was able to grab one and stop it. I do not know what is a bad fight though or what establishing the pecking order looks like. Do you have any information that would let me know what to look for, so I will know if I need to get rid of one which I really really do not want to have to do?

I think you shouldn't worry unless they repeatedly draw blood on each other or are repeatedly fighting over and over again.

I'm so glad to read this thread. I am new to keeping chickens. We started with seven in May of this year and have found that 2 are hens and the rest are roosters. I quite like the roosters - love their antics, their personalities, their appearance ... So rather than get rid of four roosters to keep only one I've opted to keep them and let the hens go to another farm next door. We have them as pets and as pest control.
