Flock Party Duck Feeder?

Hi again! Has anyone used or had experience with the “Flock party duck feeder” 7lbs?

This specific feeder has no lid… which is great for top filling, less great if you’re trying to keep rodents out. Has anyone made a make-shift lid that has served the purpose? I use open pans right now, but for several reasons, I need something that can hold a bit more food… with a bit less spillage! Just curious what kind of experiences y’all have had with this product! I have not used the duck feeder, but I have a similar chicken feeder. Lasted about a day and they had crumble all over to hell and back but...I did make a very classy lid out of an old pie tin for mine.

I’m here for the ever ingenious household item solutions! 95% of the time, they work better than a product on the market!!
Here’s hoping the duckies and geesies leave the food in the feeder, and don’t make as much of a mess as the original open pan!!
Does your feeder have a hanger? And if so, do you use it?

Yes mine has a hanger, and I did use it. I purchased some eye bolts that had a clasp that I screwed into the wood where I wanted to hang it. I have zero experience with ducks or geese, so hopefully they will!

Sure. These are the hooks I used. Honestly, not the sturdiest, but they did hold the feeder well.

I use an open tub for my ducks' feed and have no experience with this sort of feeder. But I'm interested to learn other's experience. I have beagles that steal duck food and a set up like yours might solve my problem!

I don’t think Ducks do well with that kind of feeder. Their bills are wider. Not pointy like a chicken they do not peck to pick up a piece of food. They need to be able to dig in and scoop some up I use deep rubber bowls I put either a lid from a big Rubbermaid tub on the ground underneath it or a piece of a clear flexible carpet and floor protecting mat so at the end of the day, it’s easy to pour the spillage back into the bowl and then cover the bowl with a bigger upside down bowl and place something like a brick on top.
The Ducks might be making a huge mess because they’re just trying to get to the food and they’re having trouble getting their bill in there and getting a bite

I also made feeders for my ducks out of 5 gallon buckets and 3 1/2 inch size PC pipe tubing that curves. They do pretty well with those and I use large yogurt containers to close up the openings at night.
The openings might be 4 inches wide or 4 1/2. I’m not sure I don’t remember exactly it’s been 10 years since I made them, but they have to be a good wide size for a duck to get their head in there.

Oh no, I didn't mean mine is for ducks. I should have posted that better. I meant i had the flock party style feeder for chickens and was sharing my lid idea, mostly because it took like 2 minutes to make haha. I already abandoned that feeder honestly because the chickens made such a mess. I finally just drank through a 5 gallon water jug to make aart's no waste feeder (i don't know how to link things from the site). First day went well with it! Could ducks use that style feeder?
