Most chickens will self-regulate and be fine.

If they always have the dry pellets, but they like the fermented feed better, then they will always act starved when you bring fermented feed.

If the fermented feed was available all the time, they would get used to having it, and would not act starved--but they would probably eat about the same total amount, so I don't think you need to worry.

(The exception is Cornish Cross meat chickens. They will eat too much, grow too fast, and end up too heavy to walk. So limiting their food can be needed.)
