Flocks w/ NO rooster??-- UPDATE

when i was a teen we had a mean RIR roo that always tried to fly up and peck me and my sister's eyes out. he was so mean! we were afraid to walk to the end of our driveway to catch the bus! my sister got so frustrated one day, she tried to kill him with a big rock....with no success. then my dad, who was a cop at the time, took his off duty gun and shot that sucker! that was the end of Del!

I just "dispatched" my 11-month old roo today for the same reasons (too rough with the girls, aggressive, etc.) and my hens already seem happier. Don't know why I didn't do it sooner.

Well, I let my nephew take him, AFTER we talked with his grandparents and dad. He spent all day building a secure mini coop and run, beside the barn. He has always admired this rooster and he is head over heels w/ him... He has a rooster, a buck goat and two mules that he has 'rehabbed'--and he thinks he can help this one. And he promised me if he wasn't settled in a week he would 'invite him to dinner'.. And I have no doubt he will.. Some people call him "The Horse Whisper', So, IF anyone can change his nasty attitude it will be Chris..

BTW: I have had 4 phone calls this afternoon---people wanting to give me 'nice roosters' OR knows someone who had 'good boys'.... I declined all offers and will for a long time to come!
