I have pondered whether or not to lay down vinyl or just seal the floor....any suggestions or tips?
I'd love to hear from people who have done either, and pros/cons about their experiences.
My coop is plywood subfloor at this time, and is located in southern Oregon. Our winters tend
to be mild, and our summers not too hot - once in a great while getting around 100. The lowest
temps are usually around 30....except last year, when we had Snowmageddon and it took out a lot
of trees, buildings, cars, etc. and people were without power for up to 3 weeks....but that only happens
every 50 years or so.

I put down vinyl on my poop board under the PDZ. The floor of the coop is foam board with plastic laminated on both sides ( so are the walls and ceiling. I also made it so I can remove half that floor (under the poop board) in the summer when it gets hot out for extra ventilation. Also 2 windows to open and replace the door with screen (hardware cloth) door for summer. With deep litter the floor stays clean. No stains in 7 years.

I used black Jack 57 for my floor. I didn't want vinyl in case it ever got torn up by the chickens scratching inside the coop. Paint would have been a good option, but after reading about Black Jack, I felt it would hold up the best and never have to be redone. I built my coop to last my lifetime and to the specs I wanted it to be. I didn't want to be the person that says, I wish I did this or that when I built my coop. Yes I spent a few dollars on my coop and run, but don't regret it, cry once and be done. If you use vinyl, use 1 solid piece and tack it down around the edges with some 1 x 2. If you ever have to replace it, it won't be a problem taking it up. I wouldn't use self sticking squares, they may start to come up and cause you problems.

Here's my article for Black Jack.

I ended up laying a solid sheet of inexpensive vinyl over my floor board in the coop. I use dry deep litter in my coop. The vinyl is holding up well. I got the vinyl on sale for less than $25.00 and it covered my 6X12 coop floor plus I went up 1 foot on the walls. Should be easy to clean out the coop litter this spring, wash down the vinyl if needed, and start over with some new deep litter. I would not recommend using stick on 12x12 vinyl tiles as they would certainly be prone to peeling up.

I used a single sheet of heavy duty foam backed vinyl over plywood floor,
same stuff to line poop boards.
Has held up well for 6 years now.

I went to Lowe's online site, and read the reviews on Blackjack 75....most people said that Lowe's has been using some cheaper type of this product, and it does not stop leaks, hold up well, etc. Does anyone know about this change in the product?:idunno

Last year, when I was deciding to use BlackJack 75 or sheet vinyl, I read a number of negative reviews about BlackJack 75 cracking in the cold (I live in northern Minnesota), so I opted for buying some cheap sheet vinyl. There seem to be as many 5 star ratings for BlackJack 75, so maybe it depends on how well you put it down and what climate you live in. There are other knock off brands to BlackJack 75, but again, I really don't know the quality of those products either as the ones I looked into also had mixed reviews. Time will tell if I made the right decision on the cheap sheet vinyl, but after almost one year, my vinyl is still holding up well.

I am always very skeptical(IKR?) about online reviews on sale sites.
Can be hard to effectively gauge the writers integrity.
I would pay more attention the the two very experienced members here who have posted in this thread and used BJ57 for several years.
