"Don't do it"

I bought 3 buckets of this stuff.... I am a contractor, I've used a lot of roof coatings and this is the worst. I shook it up and mixed it with a paddle, I put this on some small leaks, waited till it dried and double coated it.... I wasted my time & $. I do not recommend at all. You are better off doing nothing.

Yeah, people who have bad experiences with a product seem to be more prone to write a negative review. My local BlackJack 75 seller does not stock the item in their store, I could only get it special order. That tells me that the local store either does not sell much of the product, or that their customers in their (my) area have not been very happy with the product. Our local stores usually stock and sell what works good for our area.

As @aart stated, the BYC members using BlackJack 75 have had very positive reviews. Anyway, there are mixed online reviews on BlackJack 75 and I considered them as well. I cannot remember anyone here on the BYC forums saying anything negative about using sheet vinyl for their coops. It's a tough decision because you don't want to waste your money on a bad product and your time involved in having to redo everything if it fails. Hope you keep us updated on your thinking and what you finally decide to use as your floor covering.

I went to Amazon and read the reviews there....one person clearly states that it did not work well in their chicken coop....is it that hard to use (or get mixed correctly)?

@Rise722 Not sure about the second review you pasted,
but the first link goes to a product review that is NOT about BlackJack57.

I literally just laid vinyl in my coop a couple days ago. I've had my setup for about two years and I was already noticing the flooring deteriorating even though I had stained it myself. I didn't go with the real cheap stuff. I simply cut and stapled it down. I think I made the right move. We'll see.

I put down vinyl on my poop board under the PDZ. The floor of the coop is foam board with plastic laminated on both sides ( so are the walls and ceiling. I also made it so I can remove half that floor (under the poop board) in the summer when it gets hot out for extra ventilation. Also 2 windows to open and replace the door with screen (hardware cloth) door for summer. With deep litter the floor stays clean. No stains in 7 years.
that floor idea is a good idea.
I may modify mine under the roost like that.

Well if you end up going with BJ57, keep in mind we're not using it for intended purpose... it's meant to go on roofs. We're using it as a sealant on floors. So the company itself would tell you to not do it as that's not what the product is made for.

That said so far I've seen no wear and tear on mine. All the smaller gaps in the floor and between floor and wall are nicely sealed up too. Can't vouch that it waterproofs though as I keep my coop bone dry.

I'm sure paint would work as well but this stuff is just more durable IMO.

It was difficult to apply the first day because my husband kept getting in the way. :D He was good at mixing it though! The second coat I did by myself in half the time. Very low odor.

Oh, I should add, you may have application issues if you apply during cold (they recommend 70F) or wet weather, or if you're not applying it to bare clean wood. It's not meant to go onto painted surfaces.
