Hello, I have an 11 month old silkie girl who was sitting on an egg but can't seem to control her neck properly!
My first thought was Mareks's with her being a silkie but on examination there appears to be nothing else wrong with her. I put her on the ground to see if she could stand and she ran away shouting at me, so i caught her and checked her over, bright eyes, clean bum, shiny coat. I put her in a cat box and gave her some corn and she ate it, she managed to control her head enough to do that!
Any ideas on what it could be??

It is probably wry neck or botulism. More likely wry neck. She will need to go on a vitamin regimen.

Edited to add link. Look under the article for "crookneck". It will give you a regimen to follow.

Good luck.

I agree with CMV.

Here in post #11 you can see a video of wry neck treated and results.

For some reason we see a rash of silkies with this problem on BYC. Browneggblueegg also has an article in the link provided by CMV entitled, "silkie skull" and you might want to see the pics of the soft spot - predisposes them to problems. Hence, it can also be brain swelling from a peck to the head, or infection.
