FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Welcome to the Florida group Jen. You are close to me (in Seminole). I've found a lot of good info on this site. We are first timers with backyard chickens. I bought (3) 3-4 month olds from a farm in Pinellas Park back at the end of March. We just got our first eggs this week and ate some yummy scrambled eggs this morning! It has been a great project for my kids. We love our little flock!! Good luck to you!
Those first eggs taste wonderful! We have been getting them for a few months now and my kids are still excited everyday to check the nesting boxes for eggs. We have four different breeds and play a game trying to match the egg to the chicken who laid it by looking at the shell.
One day I scrambled each chicken's eggs seperately and we tasted each one to see if each chicken's egg tasted different and which one we liked the best. Of course each kid liked the egg from the chicken that was "his" the best !

My husband likes the EEs eggs the best boiled, and the Australorps best fried. He can tell the difference.

Oh what fun!

Miss Wendy looks like she is going broody. If so I would like to buy some fertile eggs for her here in Seminole County or close by. I do not really want to ship. I want Serama, Silver Seabright, Buff Orphington Bantam or any cochin bantam as a last resort. Please PM me with kind of eggs and prices.

Thanks,
Becky

Poor stinkerbelle pregnant in the Florida heat...At least she has that lovely mud treatment to keep her beautiful and cool until the babies arrive.

uh oh! I've added a 2 week old guinea fowl, in hopes of hawk patrol, and a 2 month old black silkie to my flock.

boy I tell you what, during the day, the guinea was so quick and hid from us for over an hour. now that it's late, 100% docile. it's unreal!

the silkie is a total, total sweetheart!
