FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Agreed. All depends on your zoning. My grandpa lived on the outskirts of Deland and had about 50 birds, but im sure if you were in, lets say Ponce inlet/Wilbur by the sea, it would be a big fat no. Google your city's chicken ordinances the county may say one thing and the city says something totally different in some cases

Did anyone go to the Dunnellon Swap last weekend? How was it?
I din't go because it was too far. I went to the LCross auction last Friday instead. I spend a week collecting and selecting only the darkest Marans eggs, carefully dating them to show when they were layed. I even printed up a few pics of Wheaten Marans to show what kind for chickens they would turn out to be, and taped them to the outside and inside of the carton. When the auction came around to my stuff, the auctioneer just lifted up the carton and said, "one dozen eggs here" without reading the description on the ticked, without saying they were for hatching or eating or throwing against the neighbors house. They sold for $1.
It was over so fast, I didn't have time to think and bid on my own stuff.

I also took one of my chicken feeders that I make, just to see how it would do. It was the Florida gators version, and it sold for $4.
They cost $16 to make.

I wish Dunnellon wasn't so far away.

Farm animals and fowl. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, harbor, breed or maintain upon any premises not zoned for agricultural use or otherwise excepted in accordance with this article, any of the following: Bees, roosters, peacocks, horses, ponies, cattle, goats, pigs or other livestock, or more than one of the following: Pigeons, chickens, ducks or other fowl. Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be liable in accordance with subsection 72-341(f).

I found this post from another thread. I checked the code and couldn't find anything except what I found above.
You are in the County and not a City, right??

Scroll until you find your zoning code. That is what will determine your ability to have chickens. I believe once you are in R1 and higher (r2, etc) you can't have chickens. That is what the code reads.

It wasn't as busy as it usually is. I sold a few cages and some birds. I think the forecast for 70% rain kept some people away. The swap did start breaking up at about 11:30. I was pretty well pack up by noon and then the rain came. I finished just before it began to pour. We are going to hold the future monthly swaps rain or shine.

Any body know of any auctions around the lee county area I can't seem to find any auctions maybe someone can help

I decided that next time i go to the L Cross auction i will put labels on the cages saying the breed and other info. I don't expect the auctioneer to say anything but the folks walking around before the auction are deciding what they want to bid on and they will see the notices...
