Thanks to JessNflock my girls have found a good home. Thank you for all the offers of home and thanks again jessie for taking them to a safe happy place.
You're welcome! We are so happy to have them! Two of them laid eggs this morning (The white one and I don't know who the other one was from), but I figure that might stop for a bit while they get used to the new surroundings.
P.S My husband and really enjoyed chatting with you both!

Hi to all you Floridians! My name is Susan Rice and Hubby and I and our menangerie are moving to Riverview (Tampa area), Hillsborough County, at the end of next month.  Unfortunately I will be rehoming my 25 pullets and their roo before our move as I have researched bringing poultry into the state and it is full of regulations. So short of sneaking them in I am finding them good homes and will be starting over when we get settled.  There is already a run so we will be putting up a well ventilated coop for them and I probably will stay with about 12 layers this time.

Question, and I hope someone that lives near there can help me?  I would love to start over with chicks but am not averse to getting already grown birds.  Here in the frozen north (so. Illinois) the farm stores sell chicks in March/April.  Is it the same down there?  I wondered whether they had them different times of year because of the warmer weather.  Are there any hatcheries within a couple of hours driving distance that I could go to , and then could order and actually pick up the chicks?  I know I can always mail order them but having them sent this time of year I have to go with larger numbers than I actually want.  I really want some more turkens--I have 2 now.  A buff and a black and they are my favorites!  I just wonder how easily I could get turken chicks locally.  I am guessing it would be pretty difficult.

Anyway, any info you locals could give me would be much appreciated!  It is 17 degrees here right now and I look so forward to getting into our new locale!

Thanks for the info luckyjoe83! Maybe you could pm me their information so I could contact them when we get settled in?

Thank you for the compliment. My husband made it for my birthday using all kinds of different woods. I am really happy with it. I have some chicks coming up to hatch in about ten days. I wanted to vaccinate them. Where do I get the vaccinations. Asking the vet around here that does horses and cows will be a joke. Not that I don't have horses and cows. We have a ranch in Okeechobee.

Hey Susan welcome to BYC. There are several Facebook groups in the Tampa area and someone usually has chicks available. I've met a lot of good people on them and made some special friends too. Come the end of January, early February there will be a lot of people hatching out chicks in the area. Here is a list of the groups you might be interested in:

Hernando County Farm Animals

Chickens of Pasco FL

Tampa Bay Chicken Enthusiast

Florida Kickin Chicken Buy/Sell/Swap

Central Florida Poultry/Waterfowl Swap
