FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Hi everyone

Just wanted to pop over and say hi to the Florida people. I grew up in New Port Richey, FL in Pasco Co. but currently live in the Netherlands. Hope everyone and their flocks in the Pasco area came out ok with all that rain and flooding. I'm hoping to at some point move back home, but my husband isn't big on change, eventually i'll wear him down lol. well I just wanted to say "hey" so "hey" :)

regards,

Ashlie

Hi Ashlie, welcome to the FL thread! Beautiful bird in your avatar.

thank you for the welcome. The bird is awfully cute but I can't claim it as my own its just one of my favorite chicken pics. I'm currently chickenless :( because the HOA doesn't allow them. I have had a handful of chickens before as pets. They were my house chickens lol. They lived inside and wore diapers but they still got to go outside and be chickens during the day. I loved them. One day though when I can manage to move back to the US where property prices are better I hope to become overrun with chickens and have a yard full of em. I like so many different breeds that I want to have all of them running around. I guess I better win the lotto.

You sound like you'll fit in well here with all us other poultry nuts!

My (first batch of) guinea keets arrived this morning! One of the postal carriers wanted to see them when she heard they were guineas and not chickens. I always open the box in front of the clerk so he can verify any (or none!) dead bodies ... while they got accustomed to chicks, this is my first box of non-chickens.

They're TINY. Yes, they are noisy already LOL all my chickens have a puzzled look on their faces right now. I have four different varieties, and can tell the varieties apart: white, pied, lavender, and pearl. I put a hot water bottle in with them to help them warm up - the post office had the AC cranked high. They also need the heat lamp right now. I even cupped a couple of them in my hands to warm them due to more noticeable shivering.

I need more coffee - this is exciting.

@dfr1973 can you share a picture of them? They sound adorable!
Now I can ... LOL

They gave a bit of worry ... thought I had lost a couple, but apparently they flop down and nap just like puppies do: where ever they feel tired, in whatever position they flop down in, and won't always wake up when a hatchmate stumbles over top of them! I had one not move until I picked it up ... it was laying with both feet behind it and head at an odd angle, and two other keets had scampered over it without inspiring even a twitch.

Hello from Florida en welkom op BYC. Mijn familie komt oorspronkelijk uit Zutphen, maar veel verplaatst naar de regio Amsterdam. Het is ongeveer 40 jaar geleden dat ik er geweest ben.
